Isaiah25:1-9
How often are we moved to view life with new opportunities?
Today's passage from Isaiah begins with a psalm (hymn) of praise that expresses that the people have been delivered from a time of oppression. Their city has been vacated and relieved from a occupation of terror. And for Isaiah, God has been instrumental in being with the people all this time, a refuge and comfort to them in their time of trial, and now on this mountain Isaiah grasps that this shroud of death will be destroyed forever and tears wiped away.
Christians often see this passage as an early foretelling of what is the present and future victory of the risen Christ over the last enemy. In this light, let's ponder our own individual situations in the present moment, in our present time. And dare we grasp that the spirit of the risen Christ is also here in our own fabric, within and without, and no matter what this day brings, we too have Power and the conviction to endure and to transform with Love, and with a peace, a Peace that is of God, that resides within each of us. Good stuff, good news!
